Vidyaarambham is all about initiating a person into a new vidya (knowledge and skills).  This initiation may be for a child, young, or old. For a child, someone else may initiate the learning process - auspiciously !  That's what you saw in the previous post.
But, that's not all about Vidyaarambham. Everyone , yes everyone, gets an opportunity to get initiated to learning a new vidya.  If this is right, you should have initiated yourself into something new today. Did you do that ?

Black Friday

Last Friday, July 8th, was really a "Black Friday" for atleast three of the families in SouparnikaGardens.

In the evening on that day, one of our neighbors started burning waste materials that included plastics, rubber, or such synthetic materials, in their compound. The smoke and smell spread around and they all felt coughing, vomiting and severe headache. This was felt by all, the young and old alike. The problem persisted throughout the night and until almost the evening on 9th.
{ It seems that this neighbor did not know it's ill effects ! }

WebMan wish to bring this to the notice of SRA Executive Committee, and all residents of SRA.

SRA-EC may kindly takeup an awareness campaign immediately, so that everyone here should know that plastic/synthetic materials should not be burned. Such waste materials must be handed over to the garbage collectors (KudumbaSree workers).


All residents in our SRA should make it a point NOT to burn off such synthetic materials,  in any case.
Kindly be aware that burning plastics or such synthetic materials produces highly poisonous and carcinogenic gases. Therefore such materials should not be burnt.

Senior Citizens

Attention … All Senior Citizens in Souparnika Gardens !

How careful are you in your food ? Are you aware that a Calcium deficiency  can create a  lot of troubles for you ? But how to avaoid those issues ?

Simple ! Take Calcium rich food.  Here is a short list of Calcium rich items for you.

Citric fruits (lemon, orange, etc..). These are rich in anti-oxidants , and so are excellent  in more ways.

Fruits – Guava, Papaya, Pineapple, Grapes,

Vegetables – Cabbage, Broccoli, Coli flower, Onion, Potato, Peas

Others – Pepper, Almonds

Above all, food alone is not sufficient. Make sure you have atleast 40 minutes of moderate exercise  daily.

Now, you see "Comment as ( Select profile )". Click on 'select profile'.  From the list you may choose (i)  Anonymous OR (ii) Name/URL.
If "Anonymous', nothing more... and click 'Post comment'.
If "Name/URL", just type in your name (No URL Needed) ... and click 'Post comment'.

Conveyance - Souparnika <> Statue

A regular conveyance arrangement is being made for Souparnika residents from Souparnika Gardens to  Statue , on all working days. The bus would start at 9 AM  (from Souparnika Gardens) and return at 5.30 PM (from Statue) on all working days.

Do you know the  history of  our  SouparnikaGardens ?  May be. Because some of you initiated Souparnika Gardens ! and others followed !!
But do you know the history of Vattiyoorkavu ?  I am almost certain ... your  answer is a 'No' ! ( or at the most 'not sure' ! ). Remember, during his talk in the Souparnika Day2011, Prof. Pattom Ramachandran Nair suggested that everyone of us  should learn and write the history of Vattiyoorkavu.  Let's pursue the suggestion.
Can you or will you please write that for all of us to learn ?  Please help us !!

Corporation Tax

Secretary , SRA informs that :

Corporation Tax (House Tax) can be paid at the special counter at NRA Office ( our neighboring Nethaji Road Residents Association) on 19 March (from 1000 to 1300Hrs).  All SRA residents may avail this facility.
